Redundancies at Arrow Pharm

February 7, 2014

Following the acquisition of Actavis by Watson Pharmaceuticals, now Actavis plc in 2012, the Company has been addressing human resources over capacity and overlaps in its global operations. Actavis operates two manufacturing facilities in Malta, one in Bulebel and another in Hal Far. The Company employs around 850 people.  The announcement of the intention to restructure the operation is part of the continued integration of the two global companies.

Around 110 employees at Arrow Pharm in Hal Far are at risk of redundancy as a result of the restructuring exercise.  This was revealed in a statement issued by the Company.  Actavis regrets to inform that approximately 110 employees in the Arrow Pharma facility are at risk of redundancy, as a result of the restructuring process. The Company is working to minimise the number of employees impacted, through the possible inclusion of a number of Hal Far employees within any potential alternative vacant positions within the company.  Workers at Arrow Pharm were informed that the packaging unit will close by November.
