Employers’ to sponsor maternity leave fund

xPregnant-Woman_jpg_pagespeed_ic_6jTdoAk89oA board composed of three representatives from the employers’ side and one representative from the trade unions, together with the permanent secretaries from the ministry of finance and the ministry responsible for industrial relations will be managing the maternity leave fund.  In a bid to spread the burden of maternity leave all employers will be contributing 0.3 per cent basic pay of all employees on their pay-roll. This means that employers will carry the same “burden” regardless of whether they employ a male or female.  The fund will only be servicing and reimbursing wages and salaries of those employees employed in the private sector.
