Claims from workers for compensation for workplace injuries are time-barred

work injuryCourt has turned down a worker’s request for compensation for a workplace injury as the case was deemed to be time-barred.  The worker, 56, suffered head injuries when the fork-lifter he was driving hit a pothole, causing him to hit his head when the load he was carrying shifted suddenly. The incident happened on 7 August 2010, but the worker only filed a compensation claim again his employer on May 10th 2013.  The court ruled that such claims have to be filed with the relevant authorities within six months of the incident, and are time-barred after two years.
